OLD BUSINESS:

  1. Website articles are needed.  Many that now appear on the website are old and we

need some new articles submitted by our members.

  1. Future NCAA Division I Tournament Sites:

         2010 – Omaha, Nebraska

         2011 -  Philadelphia, PA

         2012 -  St. Louis, MO

  1. There is a great deal of support from the coaches and officials to keep St. Louis

as the permanent tournament site.  A convenient site for many.

  1. Dave Frisch retired in 2008 and received the Golden Whistle Award.

5.   Protests:  The coach must submit $100 when filing a protest.  It is returned to the

coach if the protest is upheld.

  1. Wrestler grooming was discussed and Pat mentioned that the rule penalizing the

coach if his wrestler were not groomed properly has been removed.

  1. Pat mentioned that rule changes will only occur every two years.  Therefore, the

2009/10 rule book will carry through until 2011.

  1. The “In Person” Clinic was discussed and Pat mentioned the importance of an

“Eye Ball to Eye Ball” clinic and that all officials would have to attend one of these clinics once every three years and that the clinic will be moved to various

sites to accommodate as many officials as possible.  These clinics offer more

opportunities for question & answer sessions.

  1. The Website was discussed and the need for more video clips was mentioned.

A form is used by the evaluators and others to indicate match situations during

the tournament that might be used in the video presentation on “tough calls”.

  1. Pat mentioned that many of the major duals, especially in the Big-10 and Big-12

Conferences are using an assistant referee.

  1. NCAA Division I ticket prices for 2010 have been increased.  The NWOA

allocation of tickets now cost $170 per ticket which includes postage & handling.

Contact him.  Information about the ring is on the NWOA website.

tournaments.  Also with another increase in ticket costs ($255 to $270 for NWOA

tickets) it is recommended that the officials at NCAA qualifying and finals tournament receive a pay increase.  Also, evaluators should receive transportation
