In-Person Clinic
October 26, 2008
Pittsburgh, PA

An in-person clinic will be held at the University of Pittsburgh , Sunday morning, October 26, 2008, starting at approximately 9:30 am EDT. Details of the exact campus location and time will be made available on our website, future emails, and the NCAA and NWCA websites. The site will change next year (2009), and be moved each subsequent year to another region of the country, repeating every approximately 5 years. Bob Bubb and Pat McCormick will make the presentation this year. The plan is that you will have to attend the in-person clinic once every 5 years in the location that is most convenient for each referee.

There have been strong feelings expressed from referees and others that an in-person clinic is exceedingly effective and important for the standardization of rules’ interpretation on a national basis. Therefore, we have decided to conduct these clinics in the method described above.

Pat McCormick has been in contact with the leadership of the EWL, and they have agreed to conduct their annual business meeting at the Pittsburgh venue before and/or after the in-person clinic. This guarantees their membership of about 50 referees will be in attendance. Further, by holding the clinic in Pittsburgh we felt it will be convenient for many more referees to attend, especially parts of the Big 10 group, and independent referees in the tri-state area of Pittsburgh , including Ohio , West Virginia , western New York and eastern Indiana . Please pass this information to others not on my email list. To those at large distances from Pittsburgh , please suggest locations that will meet the needs of referees in your region for future in-person clinics.
