MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
ALL WRESTLING OFFICIALS ARE WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED TO JOIN THE N.W.O.A. THE MEMBERSHIP YEAR IS "JULY 1 - JUNE 30 OF EACH YEAR" AND THE ANNUAL DUES ARE $10. PLEASE SEND ALL NWOA MEMBERSHIP DUES PAYMENTS AND/OR INQUIRES TO LYNN DYCHE

 The National Wrestling Officials Association is a service organization, created with the endorsement and support of the NCAA Wrestling Rules Committee and the National Wrestling Coaches Association. The member officials provide officiating services to universities, colleges and conferences needing NCAA-quality officiating.

Benefits of NWOA membership:

1. Membership in a professional organization of wrestling officials
from throughout the nation.
2. An organization that provides a voice in wrestling to:
*establish & maintain uniform rules interpretation for
wrestling officials on a national level;
*promote development of standard officiating practices, and,
*provide a vehicle of communication between officials, and
between coaches and officials country-wide.
3. A national organization roster for coaches to use for assignments.
4. The opportunity for its members to officiate at major college
tournaments, including the NCAA Championships.
5. An annual membership card as well as the opoportunity to
purchase the following:
a) NWOA service patches which are color-coded to indicate
years of service as a wrestling official (5, 10, 15+ years).
b) Amateur Wrestling News subscription at a discount price.
c) NWOA shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, pins, and hats available
to the membership.
6. One annual meeting per year is held in conjunction with the NCAA
Division I Wrestling tournament
a) Discussions on pertinent topics of officiating with other
wrestling officials from throughout the nation.
b) Opportunities to discuss wrestling rules and make
recommendations for rule changes and/or clarifications.
7. Members have access to our newly-developed officials home page
on the internet (intermatwrestle.com) linked to the NWOA Officials
page. This page includes articles, news items, and "Ask the
Experts" for rule interpretations and updates. This page has
already proven to be a positive addition in communicating with our
members and for referees to find quick answers to officiating
questions.
8. The NWOA partcipates with the NCAA in conducting an annual
wrestling rules clinic in locations throughout the nation. A new
concept of a telecommunication-televised rules clinic will be
started this September 21st. NWOA President, Pat McCormick
conducts these clinics.
9. NWOA has had representation (NWOA President) at the NCAA
rules committee meeting since 1974.
10. NWOA has developed special programs which include the
Officials' Evaluation Process, The Model Official, etc.
11. NWOA has been active in improving the stature of the
wrestling official. The association was instrumental in helping
to create a special room in the National Wrestling Hall Of Fame in
Stillwater, Oklahoma, to honor referees. We have also been in-
fluential in improving the conditions for the official at the NCAA
Division I wrestling tournament, and the overall treatment of the
wrestling official.
12. NWOA participates annually with the National Wrestling Coaches
Association (NWCA) in conducting a summer clinic. This is also
a site of the annual NCAA rules clinic.
13. The NWOA is the "voice" of the wrestling official. The
organization strives to continually enhance the stature and
knowledge base of the wrestling official.
